« ECON 255 for Thursday | Main | Last chance to comment »

Phillip Harmon

This reading was helpful for me in that it really illustrates the problems that would be associated with a warmer world using specific examples. In all of our readings one thing that has been loosely alluded to but never given too much attention is the absolute chaos that the warming could cause across different human societies. We see that there will be issues with water, food, land, disease, and extreme weather. If people are unable to adjust quickly to these dramatic changes, I can only imagine that there will arise a ton of human conflict over limited resources remaining. Sadly we will almost certainly see this in many poorer areas of the world before anyone else as shown in the reading. Still the effects of global temperature rises will eventually take serious holds over developed countries, and when this happens if we aren't prepared the world as we know it could well fall apart.
